Our qualified and highly experienced engineer surveyors can provide you with the necessary inspections to fulfil your LOLER/PUWER/PSSR compliance needs. The LOLER (lifting operations ands lifting equipment regulations). PUWER (provision and use of work equipment regulations) and PSSR (pressure systems safety regulations) place duties on people and companies that own, operate or have control over lifting equipment.
Under the regulations, you must make sure that all lifting operations involving lifting equipment are properly planned by a competent person, supervised in an appropriate manner and carried out in accordance with your company’s health and safety policy and regulations. LOLER also requires that all equipment is maintained and kept in a condition that is fit for purpose and undergoes periodic ‘thorough examination'
A LOLER thorough examination (LOLER regulation 9) must be completed on all lifting equipment to comply with LOLER. The LOLER definition of Lifting equipment includes any equipment used at work for lifting or lowering loads, including attachments used for anchoring, fixing or supporting it. The LOLER Regulations cover a wide range of equipment including, cranes, fork-lift trucks, lifts, hoists, mobile elevating work platforms, and vehicle inspection platform hoists. The definition also includes lifting accessories such as chains, slings, eye bolts etc. LOLER does not apply to escalators, these are covered by more specific legislation, i.e. the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.
PUWER. (provision and use of work equipment regulation ) requires risks to peoples health and safety, from equipment that is used for work, to be prevented or controlled.
PSSR (pressure systems safety regulations) require pressure systems to be inspected in accordance with WSE (written scheme of examination.
